July 4th Celebration at Wilson Park - Tabling & Voter Registration

Every year, the city holds a daylong celebration of our nation's independence with arts & crafts, food and game booths, free mini-steamer train rides, contests and continuous entertainment, and culminating at 9pm with a great fireworks display. Thousands of area residents attend, and this year the Torrance Dem. Club will be there helping to build up our party and encourage activism in support our Democratic principles. We need volunteers to table and help coordinate voter registration efforts. (Three shifts: 11-2, 2-5, and 5-8). The club is going to recruit volunteers on My.BarackObama.com and other networking sites to canvass the park and register voters, but we can only be successful if we can get club volunteers to help organize. The table will have food and refreshments to keep volunteers energized. Torrance is literally at the cusp of becoming a Democratic city, and if we can register enough voters at this large event (most of whom are likely to be Democrats) we could put our party over the top.
